Things to consider
Ideas and decisions
There have been a lot of things to consider when making the decision to go travelling for three months. Some time back when we first mooted the idea of a long trip away we had many questions that we didn't have immediate answers to:

How will we finance our trip?
What should I do about work?
What about our family and friends that we leave behind?
How long should we and can we go away for?
What about the dog? 😆
It has taken us a long time and many discussions with each other, our family members, friends, colleagues and a lot of research, to come to this point where we have a clear idea of where we're going, how long for, how we'll pay for it and how we'll keep in touch with everyone.
Planning and preparing
Chris has long had a dream about going skiing for a whole season and had ideas of re-training as a ski instructor to enable this, but where would we live and how would we afford an apartment? But there was a simpler way to achieve this - buy a motorhome and live a cheaper life! We set about looking at our finances and how we could fund a long trip. We had lots of ideas and looked at the workaway.info website where you work for others and receive free bed and board. But this isn't really want we wanted, if we only do this once, we want the freedom to ski when on our terms. So, what to do? Well I had already re-trained as a teacher of English as a foreign language with TEFL.org and so the idea of teaching online to finance our day-to-day living was born! Since then, I've worked hard to build an online business teaching adults English on the e-learning platform Preply and will teach lessons from our motorhome. I'll be able to choose my hours of work and fit this in around skiing - what a dream job, a digital nomad!

My day-to-day job as a teaching assistant at Shrewsbury College is a job I really enjoy. Supporting and teaching children and young people in education has been a lifelong vocation for me and it was tough to know what to do about my position there. HR were fantastic and suggested a sabbatical term, which I have gratefully taken.
Keeping in touch
Again we've had many ideas on how to keep in touch with people and share our adventure. We've looked at other travellers for inspiration on Facebook, Instagram and Youtube, including Tread the Globe and Going_globe . We've decided on this blog page Blogger.com and my Instagram melle.c page.
So, we look forward to sharing with you our continuing preparations and adventures!
